On the evening of the day we helped Heidi and Will move into their new house, we went to a concert of pianist, Jon Schmidt. He was performing in Dayton, just a few miles west of Preston, where Heidi lives. I went early to get good seats, and was the first one there. We had really good seats, on the 2nd row. But then they started moving extra chairs in to accommodate extra people, so we had to look through a few rows of people. We still had a great view of the stage and could see and hear well. It was a great concert.

Heidi's move to new house

Here's Heidi working to finish painting the bathroom.
Time for a lunch break. The official 'first meal' at the new house.

Heidi with a yummy subway sandwich. Heidi and Will took us out to dinner at the Mainstreet Grill after we were all done with the moving. Yummy food there too! Great pay for helping iwth the work.

Those wrestlers are strong boys. No need for the hand-trucks with wrestlers around.

In January we helped Heidi and Will move their things from storage to their new house. We are always glad to get to help the kids with projects. We were fortunate that it only snowed a little bit the night before we helped them move, and it warmed up to melt the snow off the roads. Several trips in the pick-up trucks accomplished the task. They're having fun getting things unpacked and organized now. You'll have to go to Heidi's blog to see the photos of the house as they start to get organized. They were finally able to move into it. How exciting.

Building fences

We got this whole fence line put up right before we left.
That's a pretty good-looking fence, wouldn't you say?

The day was overcast, with sprinkles of rain throughout the day. It rained the night before, so the ground was wet and muddy. We were all walking on about 2 inches of mud, caked to our shoes.

Here's a hole Don had to dig a bit more on with the shovel.

We went to Matt and Wendy's house this past weekend and helped them build a fence to make an enclosure for a pasture. Matt had a 'bobcat' with an auger to dig most of the post holes. Once in a while an adjustment had to be made by hand. That's when Don demonstrated his expertise gained from digging fence post holes while growing up on the farm! We all worked together and got about 60 of the posts and rails in before we had to come home Saturday eveing. The grandkids were there helping a good share of the time. I guess we'll be going back next weekend to help them finish the project. They said there are about 100 posts, so we're more than half way done! We are glad to be able to help our kids with their projects.

Christmas Eve 2010 Nativity Play

Mary with the baby Jesus.
Ever since our kids were little, we've tried of act out the Nativity Story each Christmas Eve. We've done it with our grandkids whenever possible, and this year we were able to have all of the grandkids together to act out the story. The pictures are out of order, but you get the idea......

The shepherds followed the star and went to find the baby Jesus.

More pictures of Gloria Jensen's funeral

Here are some of the beautiful flowers at Don's mom's funeral. Gloria Jensen loved flowers and we thought these were a fitting tribute to her.

What a beautiful casket spray of flowers.

It was a blessing to have all of our family able to attend the funeral services
for Don's mom on December 18th.

Gloria Jensen's funeral

Don's mom passed away on December 12, 2010. All of our family was able to be in Preston for the funeral services. It was a wonderful blessing to all be together to pay tribute to a wonderful grandmother. Many of us were able to participate in the funeral services by singing, speaking, praying, or playing musical numbers.

The only damper on the day was that it snowed quite a bit and kept us from being able to linger at the cemetery. But what do you expect in December in Mink Creek, Idaho!Grandsons were able to be the pallbearers.

Here's all of our family together, after the funeral services and luncheon.
Don's dad looks so handsome in his topcoat and hat. He's been a wonderful and devoted husband, taking such good care of Don's mom all these years.
The pallbearers had quite a task, to get the casket from the hearse to the burial spot without slipping and falling. They did a great job.
